Welcome to the new Pixie Knoll blog!

Future Aspirations....

It is my hope to create a more enjoyable experience for all who visit The Pixie Knoll website.

First, as you might have noticed, I have moved my website to an e-commerce platform, creating a clean new design, complete with integrated shopping carts and shipping calculators to any location in the world. Now, collector's are free to make their purchases directly through my secure site or purchase through PayPal if that is their preference. This will give the shopper a quick and efficient check-out process thus creating a better shopping experience for everyone, including me and the pixies. :-)

I also wanted to discuss my creative direction. I have found over the years that by ONLY creating one type of artform, sometimes it can feel lackluster and that the magic has simply disappeared because it feels like you are doing the same thing over and over again. An artist often time can fall into a creative rut and lack inspiration. I'm not gonna lie, it has happened to me many times. :-P The problem is that as an artist, I enjoy creating many things. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sculpting my fantasy figures, but I also love to do a great many other things as well. By creating other things, it keeps an artist's work fresh and lively and prevents us from falling into the dreaded rut. It fills the creative soul to explore new mediums and gets the rusty cogs in the noggin moving in the right direction.

With that said, I wanted to say that you will also find more than just cute, whimsical fantasy sculptures at The Pixie Knoll. In the near future, I will be expanding my shop to include illustrations, posters, note cards, and paintings that will be in both traditional and digital format. In other words, you will be able to add to your collections an original, traditionally created artwork done in pastels, pen and ink drawing, watercolor, colored pencil, or mixed media work. You will also find digital artwork that will be created digitally through different artist drawing programs like Procreate or Adobe Fresco. The description of the art will tell you how the artwork will have been created. Original paintings will be shipped to you flat, in a very protected and secure casing. The buyer will be responsible for the framing of the art work that they purchase. I would recommend having your original art work professionally framed to properly protect it.

And finally, the purpose of this blog...

After much thought, I have decided that having a blog on my website could create a more enjoyable experience for all of my wonderful collectors. Not only will collectors be able to stay up to date with events at The Pixie Knoll, but, I thought it would be a super idea to post up pictures of my projects in different phases of creation. (These are known as WIPS or works in progress, for those that are unfamiliar with the term.) Anyway, I figured this would be great because I think the collectors of the world are fascinated by the creative process and thoroughly enjoy watching their favorite pieces come to life in tiny increments before their eyes. Not only that, but a view into the artist's world can be quite interesting, seeing first hand the chaos and madness that goes into the creation of each piece of art. Aside from that, it does make it quite nice to keep everything in one location. You can come to The Pixie Knoll to watch your favorite pixies come to life, and then, you can add them to your collection once they are finished! It really is a one-stop shop for all things Pixie.

And in closing, I want to say thank you for your patience while The Pixie Knoll continues to grow to better serve you, my wonderful collectors. Since 2008, I have been creating my pixies, and I admit, in the beginning, I created some pretty hideous creatures. I cannot lie about that! But through it all, you supported me in my creative efforts and helped to encourage me to believe in myself and what I was capable of doing. Because of you, it has been a fantastic, creative journey so far and I hope you will stay with me on the next leg of the adventure to see where the road may go.

A Left-Over Christmas Miracle...
